Blog 7- Ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen Prison Term

President Trump Ex-lawyer gets sentenced for 3 years in prison, I agree in this term he has lied and trying to silence two women through paying them off.  He has covered so much for President Trump.
This is disturbing and President Trump has lied to and he should get impeached. Since he has become president of the United States, there has been lots of mistakes in the Administration. Lots of issues pertaining to the Presidents tax returns, his businesses, allegations of sexual, encounters/affairs and hiding bank accounts   His controversial tweets, have lead to a lot of social media gossip. Quoted from the Article   "The memos submitted to U.S. District Judge William Pauley provided details of the crimes to which Cohen has pleaded guilty, his cooperation with the special counsel, and what prosecutors think it was worth.", USA TODAY.

"The New York prosecutors wrote that Cohen violated campaign finance laws "in coordination with and at the direction of Individual-1" – Trump." This is not right, with all this evidence this lead the prosecutors find him guilty. He cheated the IRS for years, I guess when you have so much money like President Trump you can fool the IRS without them knowing after many years and the only reason why he was caught was through investigation if there were no investigations he would have never been caught and get away with it. Failed to report 4 million dollars to the IRS. Justice has been served.

President Trump should be Impeached Blog 8

President Donald Trump should be impeached. Reflecting on how the United States has grown socially and as a nation in general, Trump is completely setting us back and undermining our accomplishments.

Should the President Trump be Impeached written by Aimee Williams. This is all over the news, sehe correct and does mention the administrative mistakes he has made and he setting us back with our accomplishment. I do see that she is right with Trump being sexist and does respect women. He is being investigated a daily bases and new issues and lies come to the surface. For example his lawyer going to prison for money laundering. Firing all the administration at the White House, so many changes happening and mistakes being made. Yes Trump should be impeached.

Crtique Blog 6

Since President Trump won the election in 2016, immigration has been the animating issue of his presidency thus far.

Auburn my colleague wrote a blog about why we should not build a wall on the border for immigrants not to cross over . I agree with everything said in this blog. It is a waste of money because at the end of the day the people on the other side are still going to come across, I am from El Paso, Texas border town which Juarez, Mexico is on the other side. It would be a bad idea to continue with the plan of building a wall. We have to build relationships with the other countries we do not want to cause a war and this would lead jobs lost and lost lives which means that this can lead to city damages and the end and loss of innocent families losing their life. This will also affect the economy with local business trades of foods and goods. Which would lead to economic hardship and violent outbreaks in the economy. They need to come up with a different plan as there is already a fence in El Paso, Texas Border Town. I like this blog as I agree with stated facts and the writing is well written. As the reader I felt the passion of the blog not to build a wall and is a complete waste of money.

Bryce Covert on effects of the New Rule of Public Assistance

The Trump administration has been known to be a little too hostile to the immigrant
community, if the campaign remarks about the same are anything to go by. On September 22, for
instance the department of homeland security proposed several measures which could be used to
keep immigrants from entering the country or from getting permanent residence. The conditions
include barring immigrants if they use Medicaid, public housing, rent voucher, food stamps or
cash assistance. Bryce Covert in her article “Trump Wants to Turn the Safety Net into a Trap,”
opines that though this move is targeted at immigrants, it is likely to affect the majority of
Americans who live in the reality of struggles and occasionally rely on public assistance.
Bryce Covert is an independent journalist and a contributing writer at the New York
Times and the Nation. She has also worked with other editorial entities such as the Think
Progress. Further, she previously worked as an editor at the Roosevelt’s Institute and New Deal
blog in addition to being a contributor at Forbes. She is therefore experienced enough to give an
opinion on matters governance having been in the editor position for long. Her article seeks to
address policy makers as well as the general public about the implications of placing conditions
on public assistance arguing that this will cause stigma and prevent the people who genuinely
need help from seeking it.

The argument that Covert makes in this article is that this policy promotes “self-
sufficiency,” (Covert, n. p), and largely ignores how people use this program. The reason behind
this policy, she says, is that those who use the public assistance programs are exclusively reliant
on welfare and do not work. This is not entirely true as most people that use these programs are
working and only use them to supplement the needs that their meager incomes cannot cover.
Covert uses evidence to prove this. She cites a study done by the Center on Budget and
Policy Priorities which show that non-disabled adults that use the assistance program on nutrition
have either worked the year before they applied for the assistance, they work in the year after,
and still others are still working when they apply for the assistance She says that people only
apply for the assistance when what they earn cannot supplement meals. She uses another study to
show that people who use Medicaid are people who work but their jobs lack health insurance and
their salaries cannot cover for medical needs (Covert, n. p).
Covert’s logic thus is that people really need public assistance programs and using these
programs does not imply that these people solely rely on welfare. To label them not self-
sufficient would be unfair since most of these people are working hard but lack of a decent pay
leads them to supplement their income with such programs. If the policy on immigrants
succeeded, most Americans would shun from using these programs which means people will live
in lack even when there is government support. Covert’s argument is true. In a country where the
reality is that people are struggling in everyday life, negative sentiments about public assistance
programs only adds to more challenges of a needy population that won’t seek government help.

The Federal Government of the United States

After making observations concerning the government of the United States, it has come to my realization that the people reign over the American politics, The Americans also believe that God is the ruler of the universe. I believe that this statement is true because Americans have proved to be one of the leading democratic countries in the world. However, the individual rule and self-government of the various states have continued to be attacked by the federal government which has centralized power in Washington. However, in recent years the American identity is under transformation as ore states are gaining power that allows them to make the laws that govern their areas of jurisdiction.
The United States has two primary political parties. The Republican Party has dominated the political space for an extended for a long time. However, the Democrats have had an equal chance to elect presidents that have played a critical role in changing the nature of American politics. The Democrats are the Republicans have been altering power. In this way, the federal government has become increasingly visible. Today, there are increasing debates that focus on increasing taxes and government spending. The lawmakers have been in the forefront in demanding additional taxes to enhance the national revenue to allow the government to fund its projects.
The framers of the American Constitution have divided the power between the state and the federal government. The 14th Amendment grants Americans rights to undertake matters of their interest, and the Bill of rights puts limitations on the centralized power of the government. The concentration of power has enhanced secularized culture, and many Americans identity with the government and the constitution. Ever since the establishment of the federal government, the United States has achieved great things because power resides in the people.

Brett Kavanaugh controversy

On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, Amelia Penniman posted an opinion article in USA Today.
The article titled “Brett Kavanaugh will trigger historic Democratic
turnout led by women in November election” highlights the fact that the fight for confirmation
of Brett Kavanaugh as Supreme Court Justice might be over but it is probably bound to
result in renewed supremacy battles between Democrats and Republicans.
Penniman additionally, states that Kavanaugh was not only unpopular but also toxic because
even with allegations of sexual misconduct, he still managed to get to the Supreme Court
through a rigged process.
The highpoint of this article is that the confirmation of Kavanaugh is bound to affect
the manner in which Americans will vote in the Mid-Term elections.
According to Penniman, women voters especially are bound to remember the
sexual assault allegations, and the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford ignored by the Republicans
when they go to the ballot on Election Day. This presumption is supported by polls which found
that Americans opposed the confirmation 48 to 42 percent with women alone
opposing it 55 to 37 percent. The role of women in influencing national politics becomes
apparent in this article thereby making it a must-read for anyone who has a keen interest
in American politics and way of life.
